New energy special purpose vehicle sales reach a new high in August in China

In August 2022, the sales of new energy special-purpose vehicles reached 27,000 units, a month-on-month increase of 13% and a year-on-year increase of 88%, and reached a new high in the same period in recent years. In 2022, the cumulative sales of new energy special vehicles from January to August were 151,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 78%.
According to the terminal licensing data, the sales volume of new energy special-purpose vehicles in each month from January to August 2022 are as follows:
The reason why the sales of new energy special purpose vehicles in August and January-August reached a new high is mainly due to the new energy logistics vehicles, which accounted for more than 80% of the total. Thanks to the continuous efforts and positive effects of the national dual-carbon strategic goal, the strong promotion of the new energy logistics vehicle development policy and the rise in oil prices, new energy heavy-duty trucks, especially charging heavy-duty trucks, received much popularity.
According to the registration data, the sales volume and proportion of each sub-model of new energy special-purpose vehicles in August and January-August 2022 compared with the same period in 2021:
New energy pickups are the smallest segment of new energy trucks, mainly because they are not suitable for off-roading, so the scope of application is narrow.
New energy medium-sized trucks account for 0.77% of new energy special-purpose vehicles, mainly because new-energy medium-sized trucks are only used in some sanitation vehicles and special-purpose vehicles.
