China FAW has been rooted in South Africa for 30 years, continuously improving the layout of the global automobile industry chain, and striving to build an integrated overseas business operation system, contributing to the local industrial upgrading, economic prosperity and people's happy life in South Africa.
In May 1994, with the first Jiefang truck CA141 entering the South African market, China FAW Jiefang brand became the first and only Chinese automobile brand in South Africa at that time.
In 2012, FAW and the China-Africa Development Fund increased their investment in South Africa and launched the construction project of the Coega commercial vehicle assembly plant of FAW South Africa, with a designed annual production capacity of 5,000 vehicles. The project has received attention and support from the two governments and has been listed as a key national overseas investment project by the Ministry of Commerce of China.

FAW South Africa has always been based on independent technology to produce products that adapt to the local environment and market demand. Among them, the Coega plant, as FAW's commercial vehicle production base in South Africa, has produced more than 20,000 Jiefang trucks, becoming the largest, most advanced and most standardized truck production plant in southern Africa.
While achieving good results, FAW China actively fulfilled its social responsibilities in the local area and wholeheartedly sought common development with the local society.
In terms of promoting employment and talent training, FAW China has continuously explored ways to quickly improve the work ability and professional quality of local employees, and carried out various professional and technical trainings on a regular basis, benefiting more than 3,000 people in total. FAW China has also continued to increase the number and level of management positions for local employees, stimulating the respective advantages of Chinese and foreign employees and working together. In terms of social welfare, FAW China established the "FAW South Africa Corporate Social Responsibility Fund" in 2014, and started the practice of sharing development results with the fund as a platform. Over the years, FAW China has regularly carried out various public welfare activities such as donations to support education, medical assistance, sports donations, and children's charity donations in many regions of South Africa, continuously improving the living conditions and living environment of local people.
