Geely attended Beijing Methanol Energy Summit

June 25,2023

June 25, 2023, Beijing, China, On June 15th, Geely Holdings showcased its methanol passenger and commercial vehicles at the Beijing Methanol Energy Summit and the 5th Methanol Vehicles and Methanol Fuel Application Equipment Exhibition.
Currently, various methanol production technologies are being explored globally. This year, Geely participated in the construction of the world's largest CO2 hydrogenation-based green and low-carbon methanol plant, which has already started production. The plant utilizes hydrogen from coke oven gas and captures CO2 from industrial exhaust gases to synthesize green and low-carbon methanol. It has an annual production capacity of 110,000 tons of methanol and directly reduces CO2 emissions by 160,000 tons, providing a feasible technical solution for achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.

Geely adheres to the belief that "using green methanol to solve the world's energy and dual-carbon challenges" and has been exploring methanol energy production, methanol energy distribution systems, and methanol vehicle applications for 18 years. They are committed to a complete carbon-neutral solution.

Geely Holdings' subsidiary, Farizon Auto, has successfully addressed industry challenges such as methanol engine components' resistance to methanol and durability. They have developed multiple models of methanol-powered commercial vehicles and put them into mass operation. Currently, Farizon has developed diverse and efficient methanol power solutions, including methanol P2 hybrid systems, methanol range extender powertrains, and methanol reforming hydrogen fuel cell technologies.

Furthermore, Geely is actively researching on-vehicle CO2 capture systems with the aim of capturing and recycling CO2 emissions from methanol-powered heavy-duty trucks in real-time. By recovering and hydrogenating the captured CO2, it can be reused to achieve near-zero emissions for methanol heavy-duty trucks.

Geely has already achieved large-scale operation of methanol vehicles with nearly 30,000 vehicles running a total mileage exceeding 10 billion kilometers. The highest mileage achieved by a single vehicle exceeds 1.5 million kilometers. Geely's methanol vehicles are at the forefront in terms of technological maturity and product deployment scale.

From methanol hybrid vehicles to methanol range-extended electric vehicles, and now to methanol fuel cell vehicles, Geely is constantly creating new experiences for users.
