June 24,2024

On June 23, 2024, Robert Habeck, German Federal Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, who was on a working visit to China, led a delegation to visit ZF Group's electric drive factory in Hangzhou - ZF Electric Drive Technology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd.

Habeck and his delegation visited the ZF Electric Drive Factory
Accompanied by Wang Runyi, Executive Vice President of ZF Group, President of China, and President of Asia Pacific Operations, Timo Maisel, Senior Vice President of ZF Electric Drive Technology Division Asia Pacific, and Chen Weilin, General Manager of ZF Electric Drive Technology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., Habeck and his delegation visited the production lines of innovative products such as motor stators, rotors, and electric drive axles in the Hangzhou factory, and discussed ZF's technological advantages and innovative achievements in sustainable development.
In China, ZF Electric Drive Technology Division has six factories and two engineering technology centers, and its products cover 8-speed transmissions, axle transmissions, electric drive axles, motors, electronic controls, and reducers. The Hangzhou factory is an industrialization 4.0 benchmark factory, carrying ZF's outstanding achievements and innovative concepts in the field of electric drive technology.

ZF Electric Drive Technology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd.
ZF Electric Drive Technology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. was established in 2005. Its main business covers the research and development, production, sales and service of precision gears, passenger car axle drives, electric drive vehicle motors and electric drive axle systems.
The three processing and assembly production lines of the first phase of the ZF Hangzhou project produce 400,000 sets of axle transmission systems and reducer gear sets annually; the second phase mainly produces 800-volt electric drive axle assemblies, including hairpin synchronous motor stator and rotor production lines, highly integrated electric drive axle assembly lines and fully automatic off-line testing equipment, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 sets. The second motor assembly line with an annual output of 300,000 sets is being installed and debugged. ZF actively promotes the application of renewable energy in factories, using clean energy such as solar energy to power production, further reducing production's dependence on traditional energy, and leading the industry to develop in a sustainable direction.

Sustainable development is the core concept throughout ZF's corporate development. With the increasing global attention to sustainable development, the development prospects of electric drive technology are becoming more and more broad. ZF will continue to leverage its technological advantages, improve product performance and quality, and work with partners across the industry to promote the development of new energy vehicles, help achieve "carbon neutrality", and contribute to the construction of green, clean and sustainable mobility.
Stephan von Schuckmann, director of the ZF Group, said that ZF has entered the Chinese market for 43 years and has become an important part of China's social and economic development, and has become a benchmark for German companies to succeed in the Chinese market. Sales in the Asia-Pacific region, with China as the main body, account for about a quarter of ZF Group's global sales. ZF's success in the Asia-Pacific region has enhanced its global strength, consolidated its global market position, and brought benefits to both China and Germany. We are deeply grateful to Robert Habeck, Federal Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection of Germany, for visiting ZF's factories in China. We are committed to consolidating and developing Sino-German economic and trade relations and to social sustainable development.

Stephan von Schuckmann, Director of ZF Group
Wang Runyi, Executive Vice President of ZF Group, President of China, and President of Asia Pacific Operations, said that in 2023, many businesses of ZF Asia Pacific performed well. Among them, the new business orders obtained in the passenger car field accounted for a significant share of the global total, commercial vehicle sales grew rapidly, and after-sales business developed rapidly; in the field of industrial technology, the Asia-Pacific business achieved new breakthroughs, entered new markets, and won new orders. In terms of finance, the contribution of the Asia-Pacific region to the group is even more remarkable. The scale and development potential of the Asia-Pacific market is a strategic goal that many German multinational companies, including ZF, cannot miss.

In 2023, ZF's sales in the Chinese market reached 8.1 billion euros, an increase of 5.2% over the previous year. At present, ZF has deployed more than 50 production companies, 5 R&D centers, and nearly 240 after-sales service outlets in more than 20 cities in China. Hundreds of popular passenger cars and commercial vehicles are equipped with ZF products and technologies. ZF Group attaches great importance to the Chinese market. China's huge market, advanced supply chain, complete infrastructure, continuously improving innovation capabilities, and consumers' pursuit of smart technology have provided further growth space for ZF's strategic development.
