Allison displayed fully automatic transmissions in Hungary
December 26,2022
December 26, 2022, Sweden, Recently, Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional and electrified driving solutions for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, invited several customers in Sweden to a three-day field trip to the Allison Customer Experience Center & Drive Track (ACE) and its factory in Szentgotthárd, Hungary.
Petterssons Miljöåkeri AB, which has a fleet of 27 refuse trucks and vacuum trucks in service across Halland, attended the event to test drive Allison transmissions in various applications under controlled conditions at ACE. Following the experience, Petterssons Miljöåkeri AB is considering expanding the number of Allison-equipped vehicles within its fleet.
“So far, we have Allison transmissions in some vehicles, but after this trip, we may invest in more, especially after the test drive,” said Carl Andersson, Vehicle Manager at Petterssons Miljöåkeri AB. “It was also fun to get a tour of the factory. You get a different insight into how the transmissions are made, and I am very impressed.”
The ride & drive event offers customers a unique opportunity to experience how a fully automatic transmission feels and performs in several applications, terrains and difficulties.
“We were able to test different situations and levels of difficulty during the test drive, and we immediately noticed that Allison transmissions would work well for our business,” said Andersson. “For us, it is important that our vehicles can handle many starts and stops, and this requires high operational reliability. I thought Allison was fantastic at that. It felt smooth, stable and consistent to drive with their fully automatic transmissions.”
“When we choose transmissions, we set requirements based on the type of driving involved. But in general, we need a transmission that can handle many starts and stops and that is consistent across all drivers. If you take our refuse trucks as an example, we have many different drivers who drive the same vehicle,” said Andersson. “Some suppliers have transmissions that learn how the specific driver wants to drive, but as we have different drivers this does not work. We need an automatic transmission that shifts the same and just as well regardless of who is behind the wheel, and we get that with the Allison transmission”.
“It is important to us that our customers and partners really understand the advantages of our fully automatic transmissions and Continuous Power Technology™, and that they actually get to experience how it feels behind the wheel,” said Mats Hallgren, Area Sales Manager Nordics at Allison Transmission. “For us, this trip is one of the big highlights of the year. We are delighted and grateful for the commitment from all guests.”
