XCMG Assists Construction of Padma Bridge in Bangladesh

June 28,2022

June 28, 2022, Bangladesh, On June 25, the Bangladeshi Padma Bridge, the largest overseas single bridge project undertaken by Chinese enterprises, was opened to traffic. Bangladeshi Prime Minister Hasina cut the ribbon for the opening ceremony.

Eight years of fierce battle, with a total length of 6.15 kilometers, China Construction and Chinese equipment assisted the construction of the largest and most challenging infrastructure project in Bangladesh. During this period, more than 100 complete sets of equipment with a total value of over 100 million yuan, including XCMG cranes, road rollers, crawler cranes, and concrete equipment, witnessed and participated in this historic project. It is estimated that after completion, Bangladesh's GDP will increase by about 1.5%, benefiting more than half of Bangladesh's population.

Although the total length of the Padma Bridge is only 6,150 meters, it is one of the bridges with the most special geology and the most severe foundation construction condition in the world. Several XCMG 55-ton truck cranes, XGC150 and XGC180 crawler cranes are firmly "rooted" in the uneven muddy water surface, with flexible maneuverability, powerful performance, and extremely high work efficiency, which effectively guarantee the progress of the hoisting of the supporting projects of the railway connection line. .

In 2021, under the raging epidemic, XCMG RP953 paver, XD123 double drum roller, and XP163 tire roller were all deployed, contributing to the completion of the bridge, winning the unanimous praise from the construction party Bangladesh PDL Company, the general contractor China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, as well as the international supervision team including experts from Korea, the United States, the Netherlands, France and other countries.

In addition, other high-quality equipment such as excavators, graders, aerial work platforms have become the focus of local attention, and the Bangladesh national TV station has reported on the outstanding performance of XCMG in the project many times.

In the "One Belt, One Road" initiative that traverses Europe, Asia and Africa, on the 6.15-kilometer Padma River, the years of Chinese builders who have experienced the glory of time are recorded, and every XCMG worker who has worked in Padma will be proud of these years.
